    PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2 AFS Kalaikunda is one of the premier and leading academic institutions of West Bengal. Established in the year 1984, the Vidyalaya is run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan under the Ministry of Human resources Development, Govt. of India with an endeavour to facilitate the children of the employees of Air Force Station Kalaikunda, other Defence Personnel and other Central Government offices. The School embodies some of the good features of Public School with emphasis on Indian culture and values without raising the cost of education.

    Through years of sincere dedication, diligence and perseverance the Vidyalaya has grown into a fully functioning 3 section school for the secondary classes and 2 section(Science and Humanities) for the Senior Secondary Classes

    Salient Features :

    The Kendriya Vidyalayas are run by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body formed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development Deptt. of Education, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as a result of the recommendations of the second pay commission. They primarily cater to the education needs of the children of the central Govt. Employees including Defence Personnel and floating population liable to frequent transfers throughout the country. Needless to say, therefore they have common syllabus and are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

    Every School, hence is a ‘miniature India’ in itself and tries to inculcate in its students feelings of patriotism, brotherhood and national integration.

    Places chosen for establishing Kendriya Vidyalayas are those having concentration of Defence Personnel and other transferable Central Govt. Employees. For admission the Vidyalayas give priority to the children of transferable Defence Personnel, Central Govt. Employees and Personnel of All India Service, but other floating population desirous of having such common pattern of education are also eligible for admission to the remaining.
